Texas football adds 5-Star CB Kobe Black to Junior Day visitor list
A big-time name was added to the visitor list for Junior Day this weekend for the 2024 Texas football recruiting class. Multiple reports have indicated (including from Justin Wells of Inside Texas) on Jan. 20 that Texas will now be hosting the elite five-star Waco Connally (TX) cornerback Kobe Black on a visit for Junior Day this weekend.
This is good news for the Longhorns that comes less than 24 hours after the initial reports that Texas would not be hosting five-star Temple Lake Belton wide receiver Micah Hudson on an unofficial visit for Junior Day.
Cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and the Longhorns are trying to make a big push in this recruitment to start off 2023 as this staff is facing some stiff competition for Black. The Alabama Crimson Tide, Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Texas A&M Aggies, TCU Horned Frogs, and LSU Tigers are all in the running to land Black at the moment.
Texas football reportedly set to host 5-Star CB Kobe Black for Junior Day
Making a big impression on Black during the Junior Day festivities starting on Jan. 21 would be a great move for the Longhorns.
Black is visiting the Forty Acres for Junior Day for the first time since his unofficial trip to Austin for the huge Sep. 10 matchup against Alabama last fall.
He made a couple of unofficial trips to Texas in 2022. Texas will be pushing to get him to campus more often in 2023, though. You could easily argue that Black is the top priority at the cornerback position for the Longhorns 2024 class.
Black will now join the elite IMG Academy running back Jerrick Gibson as the two five-star 2024 recruits that will be on the Forty Acres for Junior Day this weekend.
Texas currently holds commitments from three high school recruits in the 2024 class as of the morning of Jan. 20. Of the three recruits committed to the Longhorns 2024, the lone cornerback is the highly touted four-star Aledo product Jaden Allen.
