One of the most exciting connections I think about in terms of the personnel that Jackson could impact the most on the Forty Acres is rising redshirt senior wide receiver Jordan Whittington. The fifth-year wideout is returning to Texas for the 2023 season with the expectation of proving his worth to the NFL next fall.

Whittington isn’t a surefire Day 2 or Day 3 pick in the NFL Draft for the 2024 class as it stands now. There are questions concerning his long-term injury track record. And he could show more playmaking versatility in terms of what he can do from multiple different pre-snap looks and when he gets targeted outside the numbers.

Some of these areas of Whittington’s game where he needs to prove himself to NFL scouts during the 2023 season should be spots where Jackson can help his development this offseason. Jackson worked with a wide variety of different wideouts in terms of positioning and physical frame. And he was very successful in expanding the potency and production that wideouts like Christian Kirk and Zay Jones displayed during the 2022 season in Jacksonville.

I think being able to help Whittington expand his game to become more of a threat on short and intermediate routes outside of the numbers at least to the degree where he could pose some danger to opposing defenses when he’s motioned out of the slot would be huge.
