Texas is held to just 25 percent shooting from deep

Another massive strength of this Tennessee defense is the ability to defend shots from the perimeter. Tennessee tops the nation in terms of three-point shooting percentage allowed this season, at a clip just south of 22 percent.

This is going to be the best three-point shooting defense that Texas faces all season I would imagine.

And given the fact that Texas already isn’t the most proficient three-point shooting team even in terms of how it stacks up with the rest of the Big 12 teams, I don’t see the deep game going too well this weekend.

Texas is shooting the three-ball at a clip of around 33.5 percent this season. And the trend has gotten even worse in conference play, as Texas is shooting worse than 33 percent from deep over the course of seven outings.

If Texas wants to be able to find any success from deep, the ball movement is going to need to be crisp, and key three-point shooters such as Carr, sophomore guard Tyrese Hunter, and senior forward Brock Cunningham will need to be hot.

Tennessee is going to be very disruptive and contest almost every single look Texas gets from deep.

But if there were ever a time for Texas to be a tough-shot making team from deep, especially in the backcourt unit, now is it.
