Texas basketball vs. Baylor: Prediction and odds college basketball
A really difficult stretch on the schedule for interim head coach Rodney Terry and No. 10 Texas basketball continues on Jan. 30 against head coach Scott Drew and the No. 17 Baylor Bears. Texas is set to host Baylor at the Moody Center in Austin early this week just a couple of days after a two-game winning streak was snapped by the No. 4 ranked Tennessee Volunteers.
Terry and the Longhorns began a stretch of games over the weekend that will see them face four straight ranked opponents, three of which are on the road. Texas got the first of those four consecutive games at this point of the regular season schedule out of the way last weekend when it fell short to former head coach Rick Barnes and Tennessee.
The Vols got the best of the Longhorns at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Jan. 28 by the final score of 82-71.
Texas falling short of Tennessee moves the record on the season for the Longhorns to 17-4 (6-2 Big 12). But Texas does still boast a three-game winning streak at home heading into this matchup against Baylor on Jan. 30.
Meanwhile, Baylor comes into this matchup sporting a record of 16-5 (5-3 Big 12). Baylor has really found its stride of late, having won six straight games after toppling the Arkansas Razorbacks at home in Waco by the final score of 67-64 in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Jan. 28.
Here’s a look at the betting odds and game prediction as Texas gets set to host Baylor at the Moody Center in Austin on Jan. 30, with the tip-off time set for 8 p.m. CT. This game is also set to be televised live on ESPN.

Texas vs. Baylor prediction
Baylor really had Texas’ number in the last half-decade or so. Texas is riding a six-game losing streak against Baylor dating back to the 2018-19 season. Baylor has also won 12 of the last 13 meetings with Texas.
This will be a tall task for Terry and his staff to be able to end this long losing streak in the last few seasons against Baylor. Drew and the Bears are starting to look like the national contender we’ve seen this program become year in and year out in the last half decade since the turn of the calendar year.
That said, I do think this Texas team matches up better with Baylor than some of the squads the Longhorns put out on the court in the last few years. Baylor is a guard-driven team this year, led by the likes of freshman shooting guard Keyonte George and senior guard Adam Flagler. If Texas shows out defensively, this is a game it can win.
