One of the biggest remaining targets for the 2023 Texas football recruiting class amid the late signing period is the highly touted four-star Red Oak (TX) safety and TCU Horned Frogs commit Warren Roberson. Texas has truly made Roberson’s recruitment a priority in the last few weeks.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian, safeties coach Blake Gideon, and the Longhorns hosted Roberson on an official visit to Austin last weekend. That trip to Austin for Roberson went really well by all accounts coming out of the weekend.

That successful official trip to Austin led many to speculate that Texas was the presumed favorite in the race to sign Roberson during the regular signing period this week. But it looks as if the weather could be ultimately delaying the process for Roberson to sign on the dotted line.

Roberson was supposed to sign his National Letter of Intent during the regular National Signing Day period this week, which was presumed to specifically take place on Feb. 1. But the Red Oak signing day ceremony had to be pushed back due to inclement weather conditions around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Signing ceremony of 4-Star Texas football S target Warren Roberson delayed due to inclement weather in DFW

On Feb. 1, Red Oak High School was closed due to the ice storm that gripped the DFW Metroplex this week.

And it looks as if Red Oak Independent School District will also be closed due to inclement weather conditions on Feb. 2. That likely means that the Red Oak signing day ceremony won’t take place until right before the weekend, specifically on Feb. 3.

A report from Hudson Standish of Horns247 on Feb. 1 (paid content) indicates that the expectation is that Roberson will sign on the dotted line at his high school’s signing day ceremony on Feb. 3.

Texas is still reportedly the favorite in the race to flip Roberson’s commitment from TCU.

Although, TCU and the USC Trojans are still fighting to ultimately sign Roberson later this week. USC hosted Roberson on an unofficial trip to LA a couple of weeks ago. And TCU is still fighting to retain Roberson’s commitment through the late signing period.

Texas currently holds commitments from 24 high school recruits in the 2023 class as of the night of Feb. 1. All 24 of the high school recruits committed to the Longhorns 2023 class signed early during the Early Signing Period in December.
