Hunter Moddon, ATH

I would say that the least surprising of the two visits that took place to SEC schools in the last week or so among the blue-chip recruits committed to the Longhorns 2024 class was the trip that this Houston Clear Lake product took to see the LSU Tigers.

The highly touted four-star Houston Clear Lake (TX) athlete Hunter Moddon made his first trip to Baton Rouge last weekend to see head coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers. This was also Moddon’s first visit he’s taken to a school other than Texas since he committed to the Longhorns in early September 2022.

The Texas staff was apparently made aware through the proper channels that Moddon would be taking the unofficial trip to see Baton Rouge last weekend. That is good to hear and probably shouldn’t be perceived as something that is as concerning as Allen taking a bit more of an abrupt visit to Tuscaloosa.

However, Moddon reportedly (per On3) still enjoyed his time during the trip to Baton Rouge last weekend. It sounds like the LSU staff did a good job of making a big impression on him during the visit. What specifically caught my eye about what he had to say regarding the trip to LSU was him stating that “the way they recruit is awesome”.

LSU looks to be one of a handful of schools really pushing to flip Moddon’s commitment from Texas this offseason. Three schools that are putting pressure on Moddon to flip from Texas are the Oregon Ducks, Colorado Buffaloes, and LSU. Oregon just offered him last week. And there is a lot of buzz surrounding Colorado right now on the recruiting trail since hiring former Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders.
