Dud: Marcus Carr, G

Unfortunately, we have senior guard Marcus Carr occupying the dud spot on the list for the second consecutive game.

And while this outing was more productive on both ends of the floor for Carr compared to the win over Baylor earlier in the week, he still didn’t have his best showing against Kansas State. Carr registered just 10 points in a whopping 39 minutes played.

Carr got his 10 points on a decent 4-of-10 shooting from the field. But he also missed each of his five attempts from beyond the arc.

This is the worst shooting stretch from deep of the season for Carr. In the last three games, he’s shot just 2-of-14 from beyond the arc, which has now sunk him below 40 percent shooting from deep on the season.

Moreover, Carr didn’t make much of an impact on many other areas of the game for the Longhorns. He only raked in one rebound and didn’t have a single steal. This is the first game that Carr was held without a steal since the Jan. 14 win at home over the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

On the more positive end of things, though, Carr made some good decisions facilitating the offense. He put up four assists, while only turning the ball over one time. Carr continues to be an efficient facilitator for the Longhorns this season.

The main task at hand for Carr in the next few games needs to be finding his shot from deep again. His outside shooting is an important component of this offense. When he’s cold shooting from deep, this offense obviously lacks a critical floor spacing element.
