Marcus Carr finds his offensive game

A major positive coming out of this game for the Longhorns was the offensive output from Carr. The fifth-year senior guard and reigning All-Big 12 selection was tremendous down the stretch on the offensive end of the floor.

This looked like the version of Carr that we saw for most of the season prior to the last three or four games. Carr registered a game-high 29 points on 10-of-21 shooting from the field, 3-of-8 from beyond the arc, and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line.

Of the 29 points that Carr posted in this game, a whopping 22 of them came in the second half. He was pretty much the only reason why Texas stuck around late in this game as Carr was able to hit some tough shots and a couple of key three-pointers in the final minutes of the second half.

It was really nice to see the version of Carr that was playing efficient offensive basketball in the second half. He responded extremely well after having a dud of a first half on the offensive end of the floor, including four turnovers and just seven points.

This should be the type of game that serves as a launchpad for Carr to help get his confidence up for the stretch run. If Texas can get this type of production from Carr on the offensive end while the rest of the team plays well around him, the Longhorns will be close to unbeatable down the stretch this season.
