Texas Football: Breaking down 4 must-get recruits in the 2024 class
Micah Hudson, WR
Hands down, the top priority at the wide receiver position in the 2024 class for the Longhorns is the elite five-star Temple Lake Belton product Micah Hudson. A unanimous top-three-ranked wide receiver prospect in the nation in the 2024 class by all the major recruiting services, Hudson is someone that Sark and new wide receivers coach Chris Jackson clearly covet.
Texas has done a nice job of getting Hudson to campus as a frequent visitor since last fall. Given how important it will be for Texas to have Hudson around the Forty Acres as much as possible this offseason, this is something that can definitely make the ties between him and the staff that much stronger.
Hudson was on campus at Texas’ Junior Day last month. He also made the trip to Austin twice last fall for unofficial visits during game weekends at DKR.

Something to watch here will be the relationship that the new Texas WR coach Jackson has with Hudson’s private wide receivers coach Margin Hooks. If Jackson can continue to build a strong connection with Hudson on the recruiting trail, especially by utilizing the pre-existing relationship with Hooks, then I think Texas will remain in a good spot with the Lake Belton wideout.
However, there will be a ton of competition in the race to land a commitment from Hudson throughout 2023. And I’d expect this recruitment to be dragged out at least until the fall. There will be a lot of twists and turns as some of the top schools early on in this recruitment such as the Tennessee Volunteers, Ohio State, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Texas A&M are all pushing for multiple visits with Hudson for the spring and summer.
Hudson is going to be the type of recruit that Texas fights through the whistle for on signing day. Hopefully, that won’t have to be the case that Texas has to recruit Hudson through the whistle.
If Sark, Jackson, and the Longhorns can show that this wide receiver room is one of the most formidable in the Power Five this fall with the likes of Isaiah Neyor, AD Mitchell, and Xavier Worthy highlighting this talented group, then that could be enough to convince Hudson that the Forty Acres is the right destination.
