Dud No. 1: Dylan Disu, PF/C

While it was unfortunate to see senior big men Dylan Disu and Christian Bishop ultimately fall flat after some spark plays from each in this game, Texas got enough from its backcourt and wing play to be fine in the end.

Disu was especially disappointing in terms of his production in this game. He registered just two points on a measly 1-of-6 shooting from the field and 0-of-2 from beyond the arc. It seemed just about impossible for Disu to find his spot in this game. He didn’t find that mid-range jumper we’ve seen him hit this season and he remained cold shooting from deep.

To make matters worse, Disu wound up with just as many turnovers as he had points. He had a couple of untimely turnovers, one of which wasn’t really his fault.

Nonetheless, it’s never good to look at your starting center’s stat line and see that he has twice as many turnovers as he has field goals.

Disu also came up with three rebounds (two on the offensive glass), one assist, and one block. At least the one block was a nice swat that he got in the second half. It was definitely a highlight reel play down the stretch.

We will need to see a lot more out of Disu if Texas wants to find more success in the paint against some of the more formidable frontcourt. The Longhorns got away with senior forwards Timmy Allen and Brock Cunningham picking up the pace down low on slow nights overall for Disu and Bishop.

But that trend can’t last forever as Disu and Bishop are just too important to Texas’ frontcourt unit in terms of their ability to make a deep postseason run.
