Texas basketball vs. TCU: Prediction and odds college basketball
For the final time during the regular season, No. 9 Texas basketball will play a true road game in the Big 12. Interim head coach Rodney Terry and Texas will battle head coach Jamie Dixon and the No. 22 ranked TCU Horned Frogs on the road at Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth on March 1.
On the line for Terry and the Longhorns is the ability to stay alive in the race for the Big 12 regular season crown. Texas must win out in order to get a share of the Big 12 regular season title along with the No. 3 ranked Kansas Jayhawks.
Moreover, Texas comes into this matchup against TCU with a record of 22-7 (11-5 Big 12) following an 81-72 loss against the No. 9 Baylor Bears on the road at the Ferrell Center in Waco on Feb. 25.
TCU comes into this game with a record of 19-10 (8-8 Big 12) following a narrow one-point win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders on the road in Lubbock on Feb. 25. Dixon and the Horned Frogs have won two of their last three games.
Here’s a look at the betting odds and game prediction as Texas gets set to face TCU on the road in Fort Worth on March 1, with the tip-off time set for 8 p.m. CT. This game is also set to be televised live on ESPN2.

Texas vs. TCU prediction
I think Kenpom hits this one on the head by essentially saying that this game is a coin flip. TCU has played well recently since the return of junior guard Mike Miles from injury. So far this season, TCU boasts a record of 16-5 with Miles in the lineup. Without him, TCU sits at just 3-5 on the season.
There is a significant difference for the Horned Frogs when Miles is in the starting five.
Texas will try to overcome TCU’s strong starting five and frontcourt play with a consistent outing from the starting backcourt and the bench. On a rare occasion, Texas’ bench was outscored by double digits in the loss to Baylor last weekend.
Although, if Texas can get big outings from the trio of senior shooting guard/wing Sir’Jabari Rice, sophomore guard Tyrese Hunter, and senior guard Marcus Carr, I have a hard time seeing them fall short of TCU. And if Texas can get a similar performance out of senior big man Dylan Disu compared to what he gave them in the loss to Baylor (a season-high 24 points), the Longhorns would seemingly be almost unbeatable.
A win for Texas on this night would be its fourth straight win over TCU in Fort Worth. It would also mean that the quest for Terry and the Longhorns to secure a share of the Big 12 regular season crown would come down to the finale this coming weekend at the Moody Center in Austin against Kansas.
