One of the hottest recruits for Texas at the moment in the 2024 class is the five-star IMG Academy running back Jerrick Gibson. The nation’s No. 1 ranked running back recruit in the 2024 class is someone that RB coach Tashard Choice and the Longhorns are all over at this stage of his recruitment.
In the last few days, multiple recruiting analysts/reporters have forecasted Gibson’s commitment to Texas. We already talked about how 247Sports recruiting director Steve Wiltfong put in a crystal ball pick for Gibson to commit to Texas on the site this week.
We’ve also seen multiple other forecasts entered from various reporters/analysts at 247Sports and Rivals throughout the last few days.
You can thank Choice’s relationship with Gibson and his proven track record of recruiting and developing talent at the running back position as two of the biggest reasons why Texas sits in such a great spot in this recruitment heading into the spring. Choice has put the Longhorns in a position to land the No. 1 ranked running back recruit in the nation for two straight cycles if he can close the deal with Gibson at some point during the spring or summer.

As long as Choice continues to build this relationship with Gibson and his camp while having a successful official visit when the elite running back makes the trip to Austin in June, I love Texas’ chances to win this commitment.
