The regular season finale is set for March 4 between No. 9 Texas basketball and the No. 3 ranked Kansas Jayhawks at the Moody Center in Austin. Texas and interim head coach Rodney Terry will be looking to avenge their loss last month to the Jayhawks with a win to close out the regular season this weekend.

While Terry and the Longhorns are already eliminated from the Big 12 regular season title race, there is still a lot on the line in this game against Kansas. Texas is still vying for a one or a two-seed on Selection Sunday. And a win over Kansas would go a long way to bolstering the resume ahead of the Big 12 Tournament.

Texas will also be looking to avoid carrying a three-game losing streak into the Big 12 Tournament next week, after it fell short of the No. 22 TCU Horned Frogs by a score of 75-73 on March 1. The Longhorns hold a record of 22-8 (11-6 Big 12) into this matchup against Kansas this weekend.

Meanwhile, Kansas boasts a record of 25-5 (13-4 Big 12) into this game following a close 67-63 win at home at Allen Fieldhouse on Feb. 28 over the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Head coach Bill Self and the Jayhawks are red-hot coming into this game, having won seven in a row and nine of their last 10.

Here’s a look at the TV/streaming information and game time as Texas gets set to host Kansas in the regular season finale on March 4 at the Moody Center in Austin.

Texas vs. Kansas preview

Texas has played well in the last few seasons against Kansas in Austin. While winning has come sparingly for the Longhorns against the Jayhawks in Lawrence in the last few years, it is a different narrative when these two teams meet in Austin.

The Longhornshave won two straight and three of the last four against Kansas at home.

Most of the matchups between Texas and Kansas in Austin in the last half-decade were close. Texas topped Kansas in Austin in each of the last two years by a margin of three points. And one of those wins came in overtime, during the 2020-21 season.

Texas will have to find some of that magic it came up with in the prior two seasons to be able to top Kansas this weekend. This is a rapidly ascending Kansas team that hasn’t slowed down in the last month.

A win over Kansas could be a turning point for the Longhorns down the stretch this season. Texas definitely needs more momentum heading into the postseason than it has coming into this big-time matchup against Kansas.
