Texas Football: Breaking down 3 most critical visiting recruits this weekend
Jason Mitchell II, S
Another highly touted recruit that visited Texas unofficially this weekend that is on offer watch is the rising four-star St. John Bosco (CA) safety Jason Mitchell II. The former Junipero Serra transfer made his first trip to the Forty Acres on March 3.

And similar to Farrakhan, Mitchell is also set to make the unofficial trip to see Texas A&M the day after visiting Texas. As of the writing of this article, though, neither Texas nor Texas A&M has offered Mitchell.
Mitchell is currently considered a pretty heavy USC Trojans lean. He’s got great relationships with DB coach Donte Williams and defensive coordinator Alex Grinch. Mitchell has also visited USC unofficially nearly a half-dozen times in the last couple of years.
Meanwhile, Texas has cast a wide net of offers at the safety position in the 2024 class. Safeties coach Blake Gideon and the Longhorns have already offered a couple of California safeties in the 2024 class, and Mitchell could be the third in the near future.
It’s clear that while Texas has identified a few priority safety targets in the 2024 class (i.e. Corian Gipson and Jordon Johnson-Rubell), the staff is still evaluating other options this spring.
We will know soon if Gideon and the Longhorns were able to really hit it off with Mitchell on his first trip to Texas this weekend. If Mitchell does come out of the weekend with a Texas offer, watch out for him to emerge as one of the more important out-of-state DB targets in the 2024 class.
