Texas Football: 5-Star TE target Duce Robinson trending to USC
One of the most followed recruitments throughout the 2023 cycle, especially for Texas football fans, involved the elite five-star Pinnacle (AZ) tight end Duce Robinson. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks fought almost all the way through the whistle in this recruitment.
But it’s starting to look like Robinson’s recruitment is finally winding down as of the writing of this article on the afternoon of March 8. The writing is on the wall that Robinson could be focusing on just one school at this point in his recruitment.
Multiple national recruiting reporters/analysts have recently forecasted Robinson to commit to head coach Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans over Texas and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Justin Wells of Inside Texas was one of the recruiting reporters that recently forecasted Robinson to USC over Texas and Georgia. Wells placed an On3 RPM pick on March 8 projecting Robinson to the Trojans.

The On3 RPM pick that Wells placed for Robinson to USC came with a pretty high level of confidence (7.0 out of 10).
Another recent forecast projecting Robinson to USC came from Blair Angulo of 247Sports last month. In the middle of February, Angulo entered a 247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction projecting Robinson’s commitment to USC with moderate confidence.
USC was in it the entire way in Robinson’s recruitment. Georgia and Texas tried to make some late runs. And head coach Kirby Smart and the reigning back-to-back National Champion Georgia really had a lot of momentum in the race to land a commitment from Robinson last fall.
But USC has kept its foot on the gas in this recruitment, and that could wind up paying dividends in the near future.
Robinson was anticipated to make his decision by the beginning of April 2023. Baseball was figured to play a big role in his collegiate decision, which was one of the reasons why Texas was able to make some noise in this recruitment last fall.
Despite likely missing out on Robinson’s commitment, Sark and the Longhorns were still able to sign one of the best recruiting classes in the nation in the 2023 cycle. According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2023 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 3 in the nation and in the top spot in the Big 12.
