There were a number of injury notes to talk about coming out of the first day of spring practice for the Texas football program on March 6. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian dealt with more than a half-dozen injuries to begin spring ball this week, including key guys such as sophomore quarterback Maalik Murphy and sophomore defensive back Jaylon Guilbeau.

One of the injuries that started to come more to light entering the second spring practice of the week on March 8 was an ailment dealt to true freshman early enrollee and the former St. John Bosco (CA) wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr.

A report from CJ Vogel of TFB Texas on March 8 (donor content) notes that Moore was banged up in practice earlier this week. Moore reportedly suffered a leg injury during the first day of spring practice on March 6.

Moore was spotted in a walking boot on March 7, which obviously held him out of the second practice of the week on March 8.

However, the good news is that Moore likely avoided any serious damage after suffering this lower-body injury. Vogel mentions that the “injury was not the worst-case scenario following initial testing”.

Moore is likely to miss at least a little bit of time during spring practice as he recovers from this lower-body injury he suffered earlier this week. The exact timeline is yet to be known via any concrete reporting or sources we could find on the matter.

We will continue to follow this storyline as we figure more out regarding Moore’s injury status early in spring ball.
