Dud No. 1: Marcus Carr, G

For what seems like the 10th game in a row, senior guard Marcus Carr gets the dud spot on this list postgame. Unfortunately, the All-Big 12 First-Team selection had another poor offensive outing as the Longhorns did struggle to find their rhythm on that end of the floor most of the night.

And Carr not being able to find his shot was a big reason why the Longhorns had some issues finding their footing on offense most of the way.

Carr is in a real offensive slump lately, especially with his shooting efficiency. This was the fourth straight game where Carr was not able to shoot better than 30 percent from the field. Even worse is the fact that he has now shot no better than 22.2 percent from beyond the arc in each of the last four games.

I do feel like a bit of a broken record talking about some of the struggles that Carr has faced in the last few games. On the other hand, though, we’ve also talked about many of the ways that he’s found other ways to contribute in a positive sense on both ends of the floor in the last four contests.

Carr played really good perimeter defense as he was about as disruptive as any Longhorns player in this game. In a game filled with turnovers (a whopping 33 on the night), Carr forced nearly a half-dozen cough-ups from the Pokes. He managed a team-high four steals as he made life really grueling for the Oklahoma State guards on that end of the floor.

This is now four straight games for Carr where he’s registered at least three assists, three rebounds, and one steal.

As long as Hunter is making meaningful contributions on the offensive end of the floor, this version of Carr that is doing a lot of the dirty work on both ends can still get it done for the Longhorns.
