Due to the tumultuous events that occurred off the court for the Texas basketball program in the last few months, activity on the recruiting trail in the 2024 and 2025 classes was mostly in a holding pattern. In fact, the primary goal on the recruiting trail over the course of the last few months for interim head coach Rodney Terry and his staff was keeping the two five-star signees in Texas’ 2023 class locked in.

Texas signed the likes of five-star Duncanville forward Ron Holland and five-star Southern California Academy combo guard AJ Johnson during the Early Signing Period in the 2023 class in November 2022. But the departure of former Texas head coach Chris Beard gave Holland and Johnson an out if they wanted to request a release from their LOIs at UT.

Yet, it looks as if Terry and the Longhorns have successfully averted any threat of Holland and Johnson wanting out from their LOIs at Texas. And for the time being, it does appear that the Longhorns staff is getting back to proactively building relationships on the recruiting trail with priority recruits in the 2024 and 2025 classes.

High 4-Star PF Robert Miller III and the blue-chip recruits Texas basketball can land in March

With that in mind, here’s a look at three blue-chip recruits the Longhorns could nab in March.

Robert Miller III, F

There is some real buzz surrounding the Longhorns with one of its top priority recruits in the 2024 class in the last couple of weeks. Texas seems to be making some real progress of late with the highly touted four-star Houston Pasadena Memorial (TX) power forward Robert Miller III.

Terry has done a great job in this recruitment, getting Miller to campus multiple times since the preseason last fall. Miller visited Austin as recently as the regular season finale last weekend to see the Longhorns convincingly defeat the No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks at the Moody Center by the final score of 75-59.

Moreover, Terry was leading this recruitment for the Longhorns before he became the interim head coach this season. He had a great relationship with Miller and his camp since before Texas offered him nearly one year ago (specifically in April 2022).

The relationship-building efforts for Terry and the Longhorns staff on the recruiting trail with Miller could pay off in the near future. Inside Texas/On3’s Gerry Hamilton surely thinks the Longhorns are headed in the right direction in this recruitment this spring.

Hamilton entered an On3 RPM pick this week with a high confidence level projecting Miller’s commitment to Texas.

If Terry and the Longhorns keep plugging away in this recruitment, it might not be too long before they get the first commitment in the 2024 class with Miller.
