Texas Football: Predicting Longhorns’ first 2024 commit of the spring
Daniel Cruz, IOL
A top priority for offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns in the trenches in the 2024 class is the touted four-star (North Richland Hills, TX) Richland interior offensive lineman Daniel Cruz. Flood and the Longhorns have clearly made an impression on one of the best offensive line prospects out of Texas in the 2024 class.
Cruz visited Austin multiple times unofficially since last summer. And he’s currently scheduled to take an official visit to Texas on June 24, which is building up to be a pretty big weekend on the trail for the Longhorns.
The last time Cruz visited Austin unofficially was for Texas’ Junior Elite Day back on the weekend of Jan. 21. He left campus following that visit weekend with a great impression of what Flood and the Longhorns pitched him as a core interior offensive line piece to the 2024 class.
We’ve heard in the last couple of weeks that no coach and/or school is recruiting Cruz harder than Flood and the Longhorns. Texas has made it clear that Cruz is a top priority along the offensive line. And the way he’s received the attention from Flood and the Longhorns in the last few months shows that the way Texas is treating this recruitment is really connecting.

In fact, there was even an On3 RPM pick placed by Inside Texas’ Eric Nahlin projecting Cruz’s commitment to Texas on March 8. Nahlin is usually pretty conservative with the RPM picks he places, so this is pretty significant that he’s projecting Cruz to commit to Texas with a pretty good level of confidence.
If Texas keeps pushing the way it has in the last few months in this recruitment, it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest to see Cruz end up in the Longhorns 2024 class in the near future. Flood and the Longhorns have done a fantastic job in this recruitment thus far.
