Texas baseball and head coach David Pierce continue the lengthy homestand at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin this weekend with a three-game series against the Manhattan Jaspers. Texas will begin this three-game weekend series against Manhattan on March 10 at the Disch.

Pierce and the Longhorns come into this series opener against Manhattan with a record of 6-7 (0-0 Big 12) following a midweek win over the Mercer Bears on March 8 by a convincing final score of 11-3 at the Disch. The eight-run victory over Mercer earlier this week was Texas’ second win in a row and third in the last four outings.

Texas also nabbed a 7-5 win at home at the Disch on March 7 over Sam Houston State in another midweek showdown.

Meanwhile, Manhattan comes into this series with a record of 3-8 (0-0 MAAC) following a convincing win over Maryland Eastern Shore by a score of 15-6 on March 5. Manhattan has won two of its last three outings.

Here’s a look at the TV/streaming information and game time as Texas gets set to open up a three-game weekend series at home at the Disch in Austin on March 10 against Manhattan.

Texas will continue its run of home games that are broadcast live on the Longhorn Network in this three-game weekend series against Manhattan. Each of the three games this weekend will be carried on LHN. We’ve put together a guide on how to get access to LHN for the 2023 Longhorns baseball season here.

Texas vs. Manhattan preview

If Texas can take this series against Manhattan this weekend, it will at least move back to a mark of .500 on the regular season. Pierce and the Longhorns need as many wins as possible through this very manageable 11-game home stretch before the start of Big 12 play on March 24 against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The expectation for this series against Manhattan should be winning two out of three games, if not sweeping the entire thing.

According to the game notes from Texassports.com, this will be the pitching schedule for the Longhorns this weekend.

  • March 10: LHP Lucas Gordon (0-0, 2.51 ERA)
  • March 11: RHP Zane Morehouse (2-0, 3.21 ERA)
  • March 12: RHP Travis Sthele (0-2, 4.05 ERA)

For the most part, the starting weekend rotation for the Longhorns was solid to begin the regular season. Unfortunately, though, the run support wasn’t there in abundance to help the likes of Gordon and Sthele.

This will be a big opportunity for both Gordon and Sthele to rake in their first wins of the season.
