If Texas isn’t a one-seed in the NCAA Tournament, the system is broken

I know what’s coming.

Texas is going to find a way to get a two-seed in the NCAA Tournament on Selection Sunday after beating the team that was widely considered to be the favorite to get the top overall seed in the Big Dance by double digits in back-to-back weekends.

The selection committee for the NCAA Tournament is essentially the opposite of a “what have you done for me lately” decision process. They do take entire season resumes into account.

But we have to take some context into account when thinking about the teams that are most deserving of a one-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Texas is going to be seeded behind a team it just beat by a combined three-dozen points in back-to-back weekends. And while this team is definitely going to be able to use this as motivation, let’s also consider that this makes absolutely no sense.

Next. 2 studs, 1 dud from hard-fought win over TCU. dark

So far this season, Texas is the only team in the country to have two wins over the same projected one-seed. Is that not deserving of a one seed in and of itself?

I rest my case on the matter.
