Texas basketball‘s Brock Cunningham, or the “glue guy” some may call him, is the epitome of who you would want on your basketball team. Having a guy like Brock during a Final Four run is critical. Brock helps to hold the team together, hint the “glue guy” nickname. His leadership, toughness, experience, and love for the university are things that will take this team to another level.

Leadership

Having leaders who can be examples is key to a team’s success. Brock has clearly stepped into that leadership role along with other guys like Marcus Carr, and Timmy Allen. There is a reason Brock leads the team out of the tunnel each game. Adversity will strike in the NCAA Tournament, and leaders like Brock will be there to help steady the ship.

Toughness

This is one of Brocks’s strongest traits. You always see him on the floor diving for loose balls or grabbing that offensive rebound and giving the team an extra possession. Texas will need all of that come tournament time. Rebounding has been an area of concern for the horns at times this year so having someone with that tough and physical mindset will be beneficial.

Experience

This whole team has loads of experience from top to bottom. One of this team’s greatest strengths is having one of the oldest rosters in Division 1. You need experience in March, and that comes in the form of Cunningham. Yes, a couple of guys on the roster have tournament experience, which is valuable, but Brock is a little different.

Brock was there when Texas was stunned by Abilene Christian in the first round a few years back, and that team won the Big 12 Tournament title just like this Texas squad did. Brock and his tournament experience should prove valuable come tip on Thursday.

Texas Love

Brock loves the University of Texas and the city of Austin. He always has the horns up and loves to interact with fellow students when he has the chance. The thing about Brock is every time he goes on that court, he knows what the Texas across his chest represents and he will do everything in his power to represent the university and community in a positive way. When you’re representing something bigger than yourself, the prize at the end just gets that much sweeter.
