Neto Umeozulu, OL

We’ve already discussed the spring performance of second-year interior offensive lineman Neto Umeozulu in abundance since the start of camp at the beginning of last week. Umeozulu has made maybe the biggest impression of any of the offensive linemen (even including the first teamers) in camp in the last couple of weeks.

Bobby Burton of Inside Texas/On Texas Football talked about the way that Umeozulu has transformed his body since the start of the winter strength and conditioning program this year during a show on March 11.

This is the type of rhetoric we’ve heard around the Texas media landscape concerning the way that Umeozulu has shown out in winter workouts and spring ball so far this offseason.

Not only has Umeozulu looked the part in terms of the way he was able to get down to work in the S&C program this offseason, but he also has impressed the coaches and his teammates during on-field practice drills. Umeozulu has made one of the biggest moves of any of the first or second-year offensive linemen getting reps with the second team in practice.

Through the end of the first day of full-pads practice on March 11, Umeozulu has probably made the most noise of any of the interior offensive linemen in terms of his ability to move up the depth chart this spring. If he continues to impress the way he has in the first week of spring camp, watch out for Umeozulu to be a dark horse to push for first-team reps heading into the fall.
