3 ex-Texas football transfers still trying to find new homes this spring
Ishmael Ibraheem, CB
The second former Longhorns player on this list had a tumultuous run during his two years on the Forty Acres before he ultimately entered the transfer portal a couple of months ago. Redshirt freshman cornerback Ishmael Ibraheem once had a very promising career with the Longhorns.
But a couple of suspensions consistently set Ibraheem back to the point where he would only take a few snaps over the course of his two seasons at Texas.
After Ibraheem’s latest suspension coming out of the 2022 season, he ultimately wound up entering the transfer portal in mid-January.
KXAN Austin reported last fall that Ibraheem was suspended from the team indefinitely after he was arrested by University of Texas police.
"“We’re aware of the situation with Ishmael Ibraheem. We have talked to his family, and he has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities at this time as we continue to monitor the legal and University processes,” Sarkisian said in a statement provided to KXAN by a UT spokesperson."
That was the second time that Ibraheem was suspended from the team in as many years with the program. He was also reportedly suspended in late 2021 for violating a “revenge porn” law in the state of Oklahoma.
Moreover, off-the-field issues put a cap on the impact that the 6-foot-1 and 165-pound Dallas, TX, native Ibraheem was able to have during his time at Texas. There were also some injury issues that he dealt with in the last 18 months that further impacted his development early in his collegiate career.
Ibraheem is a former four-star recruit hailing from Dallas Kimball High School in the Metroplex. He’ll have at least three years of eligibility remaining at his next stop while he looks to right the ship on and off the field.
