Agiye Hall, WR

The most high-profile former Longhorns player that remains available in the transfer portal this spring is the former Alabama Crimson Tide redshirt freshman wide receiver Agiye Hall. The uber-talented 6-foot-3 and 195-pound second-year wideout out of Valrico, FL, had short-lived tenures both at Alabama and Texas over the course of the last two years.

Hall played one season under head coach Nick Saban with the Crimson Tide in 2021, famously getting a large number of live-game reps in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs. He finished up his true freshman campaign at Alabama in 2021 with four catches for 72 receiving yards (52 of which came against Georgia in the title game).

After a turbulent start to his collegiate career on and off the field in Tuscaloosa, Hall wound up entering the transfer portal. He committed to Texas following the conclusion of spring ball last offseason.

It looked like Hall could be getting a much-needed change of scenery to get on the right track and start living up to the massive potential he brings to the table at Texas. Yet, Hall had just as many issues at Texas as he did at Alabama the year prior.

He was suspended from the team indefinitely in mid-August following an incident with a parking boot.

And after Hall was able to work his way back into the coach’s good graces last fall, he was entrusted with some live-game reps early in the 2022 season. Hall got 17 live-game reps over the course of four games, most of which came in Texas’ road contest against the Texas Tech Red Raiders last season. He was targeted once in the loss to Texas Tech, which resulted in a catch that went for seven yards.

Although, that would be the only catch that Hall got last season wearing the Burnt Orange. From then on out, it seemed like Hall wasn’t in Sark’s good graces anymore. There was even a press conference last fall when Sark mentioned that it would be in the “best interest” of both Hall and the team if he were to take a redshirt for the 2022 season.

Fast forward a couple of months, and Hall was no longer with the team just prior to the Alamo Bowl in late December. The writing was on the wall in late December that Hall would be entering the transfer portal for the second time in less than a full calendar year.

And judging by Hall’s recent social media posts, he definitely doesn’t seem to be showing much of a sense of urgency to get back on track and find his next stop out of the portal for the second time in as many offseasons.

Hall definitely has all the talent in the world, he just has to find a place that gets him on the right development track mainly away from the football field.

He is a former top-50 composite-rated recruit in the nation in the 2021 class hailing out of Bloomingdale High School in Valrico, FL. Hall will have at least three years of eligibility remaining at his next stop out of the portal.
