Another offensive lineman that appears to be making some real headway in the second week of spring practice is the towering 6-foot-5 and 360-pound sophomore offensive tackle Cam Williams. As someone that really got down to work during winter workouts, Williams is seeing his efforts pay dividends in the second week of spring ball with the way he’s able to move at his size on the practice field.

Sark even had some praise for Williams during his Tuesday press conference on March 21. He mentioned that he’s “doing well” this spring. More specifically, Sark stated that Williams has “impressed everybody when he first got here with his ability to move”.

And it sounds like Williams has only worked to carry his weight better with some hard work during the winter S&C program.

"“For such a big man, he’s got really good feet. He’s got a really high football IQ. I credit him and Coach Becton and his staff. I think his body has really changed. Not only has he lost weight, but he’s gotten stronger, and that’s a good sign.”"

A report from Horns247 on March 21 essentially stated the obvious after what we’ve talked about in this piece, noting that Williams has “drawn praise” from the Texas coaches early this spring. This Horns247 piece named Williams as an “offensive lineman to watch” moving forward for Flood and the Longhorns.

After getting second-team reps in the first week of practice at offensive tackle opposite Kirkland, it sounds like Williams could now be in a spot to start pushing for first-team reps throughout the remainder of spring ball.
