Bryant Wesco

One of the top-rated in-state wide receiver targets for the Longhorns in the 2024 class, the highly touted and extremely-talented four-star Midlothian product Bryant Wesco, is someone that Jackson and Sark are really prioritizing this spring.

Jackson, Sark, and the Longhorns didn’t get in on the recruitment of Wesco super early. But they surely have made a big-time charge to make up a lot of ground in this recruitment in the last couple of months.

It surely seems worth it for the Longhorns to put the full-court press on Wesco this spring given how fast the national spotlight on him has grown.

In fact, Wesco is so highly touted by some of the major recruiting services that he is ranked by some as a top 25 recruit in the nation in the 2024 class. The 247Sports ranking for Wesco even pegs him as the No. 1 prospect in the state of Texas.

Moreover, it certainly seems as if the work that the Longhorns staff put in on the recruiting trail with Wesco in the last few weeks has paid off. Wesco included Texas amid his top eight schools which he announced on social media on the afternoon of March 22.

That is a good sign that what Jackson and the Longhorns are doing in this recruitment is working. A report from the recruiting trail from Justin Wells of Inside Texas this week (paid content) mentioned that Wesco is in pretty consistent communication with Jackson.

This quote from Wesco regarding the impression that Jackson has made on him since joining the Texas staff in January says a lot to me.

"“He’s a great coach and great man, and I think what (Texas) is doing is special. Coming from the NFL, it resonates with me as a receiver.”"

It’s clear that the NFL background that Jackson brings to the table along with some of the connections he’s already made at Texas in the last couple of months has resonated with Wesco and his camp.
