Micah Hudson

The most important wide receiver priority for the Longhorns in the 2024 class this spring is definitely the elite five-star Temple Lake Belton (TX) product Micah Hudson. The insanely explosive and gifted 6-foot and 190-pound in-state wideout was high on the Longhorns’ big board for the better part of the last 18 months in the 2024 class.

And it sounds like everything that Sark and Jackson are doing in this recruitment early this offseason is doing nothing but improving Texas’ chances in the race to land a commitment from Hudson.

Texas hosted Hudson for an unofficial visit to Austin on the weekend of the first Junior Day of the offseason (specifically Jan. 21). Around that time was when Jackson was able to make his first impressions on Hudson and his camp.

From everything we’re hearing coming out of this recruitment, Jackson has definitely made a huge impression on Hudson and has drastically helped Texas’ chances.

Jackson and Sark are now pushing to get Hudson back to campus for his second visit of the calendar year. It sounds like Texas wants him back on campus during the spring to put them in as favorable of a spot as possible in this recruitment heading into the summer and fall when it gets closer to decision time for Hudson.

Above all else, it sounds like relationships, NFL development, and the ability to earn some early playing time are some of the biggest factors in Hudson’s decision-making process. Jackson checks a lot of those boxes for Hudson as we’ve heard that very few coaches are in communication as frequently as the new Texas WR coach.

"“I like him as a person and as a coach. He’ll text me everyday or almost each day just to check on me. I can’t wait to get down to Austin to watch how he coaches in spring practice.”"

Some recent statements from Hudson lead me to believe that Texas is definitely at the top of his list this spring. And it sounds very likely that Jackson and the Longhorns will be able to get him back to the Forty Acres for an unofficial visit this spring.

Texas currently sits in a top group of schools in the race to land a commitment from Hudson that also includes the likes of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Alabama Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes, and maybe even the Tennessee Volunteers and Texas A&M Aggies. Jackson, Sark, and the Longhorns must continue to remain in constant communication while keeping Hudson around campus as much as possible to continue to build this connection for the remainder of the offseason.
