The seniors will be missed

As tough as this loss to Miami is to swallow for Texas fans, we have to be really appreciative of the way that this team fought through the most turbulent season off the court in recent memory for this men’s basketball program.

Terry and the Longhorns staff not only did a tremendous job with this team from around mid-December and on but also the seniors did a great job leading this squad through the turbulence to a deep postseason run and the first Elite Eight appearance since 2008.

Carr along with the likes of shooting guard/wing Sir’Jabari Rice, forward Timmy Allen, forward Christian Bishop, and Disu all made invaluable contributions at different points of this season to deliver one of the best campaigns in the last couple of decades for the Longhorns. Here are some of the accolades that these seniors reeled in this season for the Longhorns.

  • All Big 12 First-Team: Carr
  • All Big 12 Second/Third/HM: Rice (3rd), Allen (HM)
  • Big 12 All-Tournament: Carr, Rice, Disu
  • Big 12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player: Disu
  • Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year: Rice

And I’m sure that there will be more postseason awards handed out to some of these seniors for the way they played in the NCAA Tournament.

All in all, I can’t say enough about how this group of seniors and the coaches rallied amid the controversy that this team faced off the court a few months ago to produce one of the most magical postseason runs in the recent history of this program.
