Another in-state recruit in the 2024 class that got the priority treatment from the Texas coaches at Junior Day this weekend was the towering 6-foot-7 and 305-pound four-star Sugar Land Fort Bend Christian Academy offensive tackle Bennett Warren.

The Houston-area product made his second visit to Texas in 2023 this weekend. It was also his third unofficial trip to see Texas since last spring. Texas and the Houston Cougars are the only two schools that Warren has visited multiple times since the spring of 2022.

It sounds like Flood and the Longhorns have one of the best relationships with Warren and his family of any of the roughly half-dozen schools that are heavily involved in his recruitment this spring. Flood identified Warren as a priority offensive line target for the Longhorns in the 2024 class more than a year ago, so the blue-chip OT definitely knows this staff is invested in his development.

A report from CJ Vogel of TFB Texas on March 25 (donor content) mentioned that Flood and the Longhorns could even be in the top three with the impression they made during the Junior Day cookout and spring practice.

However, this recruitment is probably going to go through the next six or seven months at least. Warren is still piecing together his top group of four or five schools. And it might not be until the summer when he’s ready to officially narrow down his list of top schools.

For the time being, though, it’s clear that Flood and the Longhorns sit within striking distance of the top group for Warren, who is one of the highest-rated and largest offensive tackle offers in the 2024 class at the moment.
