Selman Bridges, CB
A high-priority recruit for the Longhorns in the 2024 class that we’ve talked a lot about on the site recently is the highly touted four-star Temple Lake Belton (TX) cornerback Selman Bridges. The lengthy and uber-gifted 6-foot-4 and 170-pound in-state defensive back is one of the most important defensive targets on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns this spring.
This weekend was the first time that Bridges visited Texas unofficially or officially. And there was certainly plenty of build-up to this visit given Bridges’ tight connection that came together really fast with the Texas coaches.
There was even a national recruiting analyst that forecasted Bridges’ commitment to Texas earlier this month.

Bridges reportedly “enjoyed” his first trip to the Forty Acres for Junior Day this weekend. He got to spend the majority of his trip to Austin with Sark and cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph.
He is definitely feeling the love given that Sark is putting so much time into this recruitment. We’ve always said that it’s a really good indicator of how much Texas values a defensive priority recruit when Sark is spending extra time in communication.

Bridges was one of the many Junior Day visitors for the Longhorns this weekend that made his way to the Forty Acres in the midst of the OT7 7-on-7 tournament in Austin. This was a really busy weekend for the standout Lake Belton rising senior.
Another important nugget to note coming out of the weekend in this recruitment is that Bridges is apparently looking at a decision during the first day of the Early Signing Period in December.
Two of the upcoming visits reportedly for Bridges to potentially round out his spring schedule will be to see the Oregon Ducks and Arkansas Razorbacks.
