All three of the new additions to Texas’ wide receiver room this spring have stood out in various regards of late. The former Georgia Bulldogs sophomore transfer wide receiver AD Mitchell is starting to look the part of an instant upgrade for this receiving corps on the boundary.

Adding Mitchell to the mix means that Texas now has two of the most potent boundary receivers in the country this year, along with redshirt junior Isaiah Neyor.

It also sounds like the former elite five-star recruit and true freshman wide receiver Johntay Cook II has come along nicely in camp thus far. Although, we haven’t heard as much about Cook’s play of late, which might actually be a good thing. Cook is expected to be a regular contributor in the two-deep at wideout this fall.

Moreover, the wide receiver among the three new additions to this position group that we’ve heard the most positive reviews on a consistent basis in the last few weeks is actually true freshman DeAndre Moore Jr.

The former four-star recruit is really coming on strong this spring. Despite suffering a lower-body injury in the first spring practice a few weeks ago, Moore has looked pretty incredible in terms of his route running ability and consistent hands in camp.

A report from Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods last weekend (subscriber content) also noted how one team source told him that Moore was the first top performer that came to mind when thinking of the real standouts from the first three weeks of practice.

That is pretty high praise considering the vast amount of talent that Texas has in this wide receiver room this spring.
