For the first time since the Black Friday regular season finale for Texas football in a win over the Baylor Bears, the men in Burnt Orange returned to some sort of live-game action at DKR on April 15. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian took part in the annual Orange-White spring football game at DKR on the afternoon of April 15, with a number of highly anticipated debuts in stores.

No debut was more anticipated, though, than the former elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback recruit and true freshman early enrollee Arch Manning. The Texas faithful got to see Arch suit up in the Texas uniform for some sort of live-game action and toss the ball around at DKR for the first time in his collegiate career this weekend.

It was a very notable moment to see Arch’s first throw wearing the Longhorns uniform at DKR in the spring game. It was also a notable moment to see Arch on a television broadcast for the first time wearing the Texas gear.

Arch’s first pass on the day wound up being a completion in front of the chains to walk-on junior wide receiver Thatcher Milton.

It was good to see Arch’s first completion of the Orange-White Game go for nearly 10 yards to build up his confidence. He also made some nice throws later on in the second and third quarters of the spring game.

Arch and redshirt sophomore quarterback Quinn Ewers had some nice throws to start the day. For Ewers, there was a nice deep ball that nearly went for a long score to junior wide receiver Xavier Worthy, but he wound up going out of bounds at the one-yard line.

In the first half of the spring game, Arch wound up essentially being the third quarterback in the pecking order behind Ewers and redshirt freshman Maalik Murphy. Ewers was obviously the first Texas quarterback to take the field with the offense in the spring game, followed by Murphy on the next drive.
