Texas football gets RPM pick for 4-Star RB Christian Clark
One of the top targets at the running back position in the 2024 Texas football recruiting class looks to be favoring the Longhorns this spring if a recent On3 RPM pick is any indication. The highly touted four-star Phoenix (AZ) Mountain Pointe running back Chrisitan Clark had an On3 RPM pick entered by Inside Texas’ Gerry Hamilton on April 16 projecting his commitment to Texas.
Hamilton forecasted Clark’s commitment to Texas late in the morning of April 16, which comes a few weeks after Clark’s first unofficial trip that he’s made to Austin. Clark visited Texas unofficially for the Junior Day festivities on March 25, which included a cookout and an open scrimmage in the midst of spring ball.
It sounds like Choice and the Longhorns were able to make a real impression on Clark and his camp during his first unofficial trip to Austin for Junior Day late last month.
"“My mom always tells me that Austin is a great place to be. I can’t wait to get down there and really see it. I just like the culture of Texas.”"
In fact, Texas reportedly made a sizable move to potentially challenge some of the top schools for Clark this spring such as the USC Trojans and Arizona State Sun Devils. Simultaneous to putting in the RPM pick, Hamilton reported that Texas is “considered the favorite by those in the state of Arizona”.
Recruiting analyst projects 4-Star RB target Christian Clark to commit to Texas football
With running backs coach Tashard Choice and the Longhorns likely targeting a two-RB class for the 2024 cycle, Clark has emerged as one of the top priorities at the position. It looks like Choice and the Longhorns are in a very favorable spot with the blue-chip running back out of Arizona this spring.
The top priority target at the position for the Longhorns is the top-ranked running back recruit in the nation in the 2024 class, five-star IMG Academy product Jerrick Gibson. Texas also seems to be in a great spot with Gibson at the moment as he’s coming off a successful unofficial trip to Texas during the spring game this weekend.
Texas sitting in favorable spots in both of these recruitments for Gibson and Clark signifies just how effective Choice is on the trail literally coast-to-coast. Choice has a relationship with Gibson that goes back more than a year as he continues to hit the state of Florida hard on the recruiting trail.
Meanwhile, Choice has built a fantastic relationship with Clark in the span of just the last few months. It was less than three months ago that Texas originally offered Clark. Clearly, Choice and the Longhorns have made a real impression right away with Clark and his camp.
Texas currently holds commitments from two recruits in the 2024 class as of the writing of this article on April 16. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff have their eye on some really big targets in the 2024 class, though, with the potential of reeling in the top-ranked running back recruit in the nation for the second straight cycle.
