Texas Football: 3 elite 5-Star recruits the Horns can land this spring
In the next couple of months, we should start seeing more additions to the 2024 Texas football recruiting class for head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff. We saw a similar pattern take place for Sark and his staff in the 2023 class last offseason when Texas started to build a big wave of momentum on the recruiting trail during the summer.
Sark and the Longhorns landed nearly half of their commitments from the high school ranks in the 2023 class during the summer last offseason.
And given the way that the visit schedule has panned out for the Longhorns this offseason, it looks like the recruiting trail will heat up for Sark and his staff in June and July. There could even be some movement for the 2024 class for the Longhorns before the end of the spring.
Texas did a nice job making some moves on the recruiting trail in the 2024 class this spring thanks to a couple of big visit weekends that were considered to be major successes. That included the second Junior Day of the offseason on March 25 and the spring game last weekend.
Priority LB Jonah Williams and the 5-Star recruits Texas football can nab this spring
With that in mind, here’s a look at three elite five-star recruits the Longhorns can land this spring.
Jonah Williams, LB
One of the early priorities for the Longhorns among the top blue-chip recruits in the 2025 class is the elite five-star Galveston (TX) Ball linebacker Jonah Williams. Texas extended an offer to Williams on Feb. 8, 2023. And since then, Williams is one of the top targets in the 2025 class for Pete Kwiatkowski, Jeff Choate, and the Longhorns.
Choate has remained in constant communication with Williams in the last couple of months. That has resulted in some early momentum for the Longhorns in this recruitment for one of the top linebackers in the nation in the 2025 class.

The uber-talented 6-foot-3 and 200-pound in-state linebacker has already found his way to the 40 twice in 2023. Williams visited Austin for the first Junior Day of the offseason on the weekend of Jan. 21. He then made a return visit to campus for the second Junior Day, where he got to witness the open practice/scrimmage on March 25.
Williams’ first two unofficial trips to Austin have to be considered a rousing success. On3’s Sam Spiegelman reported on April 7 that Texas is one of the top schools in communication with Williams early in his recruitment.
"“I’ve been to Texas the most. My brother lives up there and it’s convenient to come up there. They really show a lot of love. Even if it’s not your position, the coaches all show love — no matter who you are.”"
It’s interesting to note that Williams’ brother also lives in Austin. He’s very close with his brother, Nick (who plays professional baseball), so that has to be considered a leg up for the Longhorns that he’s already in Austin.
If I had to pick a wildcard for the Longhorns to get as a staple blue-chip commit in the 2025 class this offseason, it would probably be Williams.
