Predicting Texas basketball’s next transfer addition after Kadin Shedrick
Ze’Rik Onyema, PF
Another new priority portal target for the Longhorns that emerged in the last few days is the former UTEP Miners junior power forward Ze’Rik Onyema. The physically-gifted and insanely-strong 6-foot-8 and 230-pound forward Onyema is a transfer that caught Terry’s eye almost as soon as his name hit the portal on April 18.
The schools that look to be involved in the race to land a commitment from Onyema out of the portal this spring are the Vanderbilt Commodores, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and Texas.
Onyema is currently on campus in Nashville, TN, seeing Vanderbilt on his first portal visit. His multi-day trip to see Vanderbilt this week was scheduled to start on April 24, and last through April 27.
And while it is being reported that Onyema wants to visit Texas Tech, Texas, and Ole Miss, we don’t have official visit dates locked in yet for him to see any of these schools.
Furthermore, does sound like Texas has already had multiple conversations with Onyema. I would expect Texas to officially get something on the books with Onyema for a visit to Austin later this week.
Terry and the Longhorns are looking at Onyema as an energy guy that can come off the bench and provide some depth in the frontcourt unit. He could be a solid fourth guy in the frontcourt unit alongside Shedrick, senior big man Dylan Disu, and incoming freshman forward Ron Holland.
