Keondre Coburn, DL

After the stellar combine showing that Ojomo had in Indianapolis a couple of months ago, the race to be the first Texas interior defensive lineman off the board narrowed between him and Keondre Coburn. The 6-foot-2 and 335-pound Coburn does grade out lower, though, from the NFL compared to Ojomo.

But I’ll still give the slight edge to Coburn given that he probably has the higher ceiling at the next level compared to Ojomo.

All told, I think it will still be neck and neck in terms of where Coburn and Ojomo fall off the draft board in the middle rounds later this week.

Coburn will go to a team that needs some additional size and depth to anchor the defensive line. He obviously won’t be expected to be an immediate impact starter along an NFL defensive line. But I think there is a good opportunity for Coburn to develop for a year or two in a decent situation and start to earn his reps in a defensive line rotation at the next level.

There is a lot of value in terms of what Coburn brings to the table as a high-motor player that can be disruptive as an interior pass rusher. Coburn’s quickness and good hands at the point of attack along with his above-average foot speed and pass-rushing ability will make him an appealing take in the middle rounds of the draft.

Projection: 4th round (126th overall) to the Cleveland Browns
