Roschon Johnson, RB

The second Texas running back that will be coming off the board on Day 2 or early in Day 3 of the draft this week is senior Roschon Johnson. The 6-foot and 220-pound versatile former Texas running back is one of the most interesting and dynamic prospects at the position in this draft class.

Few running backs in this class bring the type of versatility, physicality, and field vision to the table that Roschon does. Since Roschon is a converted quarterback, he understands a lot of offensive concepts and is able to digest a lot of offensive schemes quicker than most other running backs.

The physical tools that Roschon brings to the table also set him apart from most of the other running backs in this class. His larger frame and physical running style will make him more physically ready for the level of contact in the NFL.

Roschon’s field vision and patience with the ball in his hands will make him a dangerous threat in the open field. He’s also powerful enough of a runner to get down and dirty in short-yardage situations.

Above all else, what stands out to me about Roschon, compared to the other running backs in this draft class, is just how unique his skill set and physical profile are. You’re not going to get the type of versatile value and immediate impact out of 95 percent of the other running backs in this class as you will Roschon.

Projection: 4th round (106th overall) to the Indianapolis Colts
