The conclusion of spring camp on the Forty Acres has turned a lot of attention at this point of the offseason for the Texas football program and head coach Steve Sarkisian to the recruiting trail. Texas has officially moved into the evaluation period this spring, which puts the focal point on the 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes.

Sark and the Longhorns staff have already sent out more than a dozen offers to rising targets in the next few recruiting cycles this spring. And we’re going to continue to see the rise of new targets on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns as the staff hits the road to visit top priorities at their high schools this spring.

We can get a good sense of how Texas is prioritizing some of the top offers in the next two recruiting cycles by who gets visited, and how often, by the coaches in the next few weeks.

Top priority recruits Texas football coaches are going to visit this spring

With that in mind, here’s a look at four elite priority recruits that the Texas coaches visited this week, and where the Longhorns stand with each prospect this spring.

Micah Hudson, WR

The top priority wide receiver target for the Longhorns in the 2024 class is the top-ranked recruit at the position in the state of Texas, the elite five-star Temple Lake Belton product Micah Hudson. The uber-talented 6-foot and 190-pound wideout is at the top of the board for new wide receivers coach Chris Jackson and the Longhorns this offseason.

And Jackson is doing a nice job of making it known to Hudson that he is being prioritized to the utmost degree by the Longhorns in the 2024 class. Hudson had a successful trip to the Forty Acres for the first Junior Day of the offseason back on Jan. 21, 2023.

Texas is working to get Hudson back to campus for an official visit during the summer or the fall.

The schools that appear to be first in line to get official visits on the books with Hudson in the months to come are the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Texas. It’s hard to fault the logic that Texas and Texas Tech have the best relationships in this recruitment. And that will play a big role in where both schools stand as this recruitment progresses moving into the fall.

Gerry Hamilton and Justin Wells of Inside Texas/On Texas Football reported on their YouTube show on April 25 that Jackson made his way to Lake Belton High School in Temple, TX, to see Hudson during spring ball within the last week. Jackson continues to make a convincing case that Hudson should choose Texas over the likes of Texas Tech and the Ohio State Buckeyes, among many other schools that have offered the elite wideout.

He’s doing a nice job selling his own resume along with the potential that Hudson could have in this offense with the former No. 1 ranked recruit in the nation and freshman quarterback Arch Manning throwing him the ball.
