One of the pivotal recruitments where Texas made big moves this spring is with the five-star Mater Dei offensive tackle Brandon Baker. Texas got a big-time unofficial visit from the nation’s top-ranked offensive tackle recruit in the 2024 class, Baker, for the spring game a couple of weekends ago.

Baker had a good trip to the 40 for the spring game on April 15. According to a report from Mike Roach of Horns247 on April 25 (paid content), Baker stated that he had a “great trip” to Austin for the spring game. It sounds like the spring game visit 10 days ago really exceeded Baker’s expectations.

He’s had nothing but good things to say about Texas in the last couple of weeks since his unofficial trip to the 40 concluded.

"“I really enjoyed the environment in Austin. I definitely didn’t expect to like it as much as I did.”"

Offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns are looking to keep the momentum rolling in this recruitment as he got out to see Baker at Mater Dei High School this week. Flood is reportedly expected to actually be at Mater Dei on April 25.

Flood is out at Mater Dei visiting two key blue-chip OL recruits in the 2024 class. Baker is probably the top priority while the touted four-star Mater Dei interior offensive lineman DeAndre Carter is also on the radar of Flood and the Longhorns.
