Texas Football: 4-Star EDGE target gets ‘dream fulfilled’ with Horns offer
One of the newest offers from the 2025 Texas football recruiting class went to the highly touted four-star Humble (TX) Summer Creek edge rusher Chad Woodfork. Texas and defensive line coach Bo Davis offered Woodfork on April 24, which he announced via a post on social media.
The 6-foot-5 and 220-pound Woodfork is the third in-state edge rusher that has a Texas offer, and the fifth total at the position in the 2025 class. He’s also the highest rated in-state edge rusher offer in the 2025 class for the Longhorns.
Texas is one of the first Power Five offers that Woodfork received, which seems to have made a big impression on the top-100-rated EDGE player (per Inside Texas).
"“Man, Texas is just a great program and it’s really like a childhood dream fulfilled getting that offer.”"

It sounds like Texas could put itself squarely among the top group of schools in this recruitment if it continues to keep its foot on the gas in terms of pushing for interest from Woodfork. He mentioned that Texas “will probably be in there soon”, referring to the top group of schools he’s considering early in the recruiting process.
But Texas currently sits behind two of his major Division I offers in the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Houston Cougars. If Davis and the Longhorns prioritize this recruitment heading into the summer and fall, I think they will be in a spot to make some big moves to make up ground with Texas Tech and Houston in the next few months.
Texas has already hosted Woodfork on a visit to Austin this offseason. He made the unofficial trip to the 40 on the weekend of Jan. 21, 2023, for the first Junior Day of the offseason. Woodfork would receive an offer just a few months after his first trip to the Forty Acres.
We will continue to monitor this recruitment as Texas will likely push for a return visit from Woodfork during the summer or fall.
Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian don’t currently hold commitments from any high school recruits in the 2025 class. Woodfork is one of more than 70 recruits the Longhorns have offered in the 2025 class as of the writing of this article on the afternoon of April 25.
