In less than two days, there is a chance that we could hear the first Texas football player have their name called in the NFL Draft in eight years. Texas All-American junior running back Bijan Robinson is widely projected to be selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, likely in the middle or late picks on Day 1.

Bijan is also widely considered to be the top running back prospect in this draft class. If the running back position were valued in the same way that it was a decade or two ago, then Bijan would probably be a top-five or top-10 pick in this draft.

Yet, there could still be some teams potentially thinking about taking the risk of picking Bijan over other positional needs they might have in the early to middle picks in the first round. And if there were a team with a top-10 pick that Bijan could go to, it sounds like he would prefer it be the Philadelphia Eagles.

Bijan said to the ESPN NFL Live crew on April 25 that if he had the choice to play with any quarterback at the next level, it would be “Jalen Hurts” among “a lot of great quarterbacks” he had to choose from.

Hurts and Bijan would be quite the duo out of the backfield for the Eagles. The former Oklahoma Sooners and Alabama Crimson Tide star quarterback rushed for more than 750 yards and 13 scores on the ground for the Eagles last season. Adding Bijan to that equation would obviously make the Eagles one of the most potent rushing attacks in the NFL.

Philadelphia was one of the few teams that Bijan actually met with prior to the 2023 NFL Draft. And it sounds like that meeting went well between Bijan and the Eagles ahead of the draft.

"“It was great. Both teams that I was with. Just building relationships with the coaches, the support staff, the GM. Even that janitor. The janitor was super cool too. An awesome visit and for me, I pride myself in relationships and building those relationships and understanding who people are.”"

Not only does Bijan appear to like the idea of playing with Hurts and the defending NFC Champion Eagles, but he also seems to like the entire organization judging from how he spoke about his meeting with the team.

Bijan is probably going to be one of four or five former Longhorns players that are selected in the 2023 NFL Draft. He is almost assured to be the first Longhorn off the board. If he is picked in the first round, it would be the first time since the New England Patriots selected defensive tackle Malcom Brown 32nd overall in 2015 that a Texas Ex was picked on the first day.
