Texas Longhorns 6th-best first-round NFL draft pick of the last 25 years: Earl Thomas

Defensive back
Seattle Seahawks: 2010-2018
Baltimore Ravens: 2019

Earl Thomas was one of those Texas Longhorns that had a rather short career in college as he left after his sophomore season. It’s worth noting that there are plenty of players out there who went to the NFL early and then realized they had made a rather big mistake. Thomas is not one of them.

After being the 14th player selected in the 2010 NFL draft, he put together quite a career with the Seattle Seahawks.

Thomas started and played in ever single game for the Seahawks from 2010 to 2015 but his streak ended as his body started to break down. In 2016, he played in just 11 games and while he went back up to 14 games the following year, he finished his Seattle career with just four games played in 2018. Despite injuries cutting things short then, he still amassed 28 interceptions and over more than 600 tackles. His final year, he finished his stay in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens.

He went out as one of the better defenders of his era by racking up 49 tackles and two interceptions.
