Texas Longhorns 14th-best first-round NFL draft pick of the last 25 years: Michael Huff

Defensive back
Oakland Raiders: 2006-2012
Denver Broncos: 2013
Baltimore Ravens: 2013

One big claim to fame for Texas Longhorns fans is that the school tends to put out talent that sticks. When you really take a look at players who were drafted in the first round especially, there simply weren’t that many busts. At least, that’s certainly the case when talking about the last 25 years.

Michael Huff is one of those players that had a nice NFL career after getting selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2006 draft.

Huff was taken by the Oakland Raiders and managed to really stick with that team when he was chosen, as he spent most of his eight-year career with the team. Huff was the unchallenged starter for the Raiders for his first two years in the NFL, but he soon started to fade a bit.

In the end, Huff played in 108 games while starting 93 of them. In his last year in the league, he was finally let go by Oakland and tried to give it a go with first the Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos. That year he only played in 10 games and started one. Still, an eight-year career in the NFL is hardly something to sneeze at for the former Texas Longhorns star.
