Among the newest portal priorities on the radar of Terry and the Longhorns as of late April is the former UT-Arlington Mavericks freshman guard Chendall Weaver. Texas is interested in what Weaver brings to the table as a floor spacer that has a lot of potential to expand the range and efficiency of the backcourt.

Weaver could wind up being one of the best sharpshooting guards to surface in the transfer portal this entire offseason. He shot better than 40 percent from deep on 2.6 three-point attempts per game at UT-Arlington last season.

Texas doesn’t have a sharpshooter of Weaver’s abilities in terms of automatic shooting from deep and catch-and-shoot ability from the mid-range and beyond the arc.

The reigning WAC Newcomer of the Year Weaver currently has interest from more than a dozen schools, including Ole Miss and Texas. Some of the other schools trying to get in the thick of this portal recruitment are the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Texas A&M Aggies, Ohio State Buckeyes, and SMU Mustangs, among many others.

This portal recruitment looks to be more of an in-state battle between the likes of Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech. But other schools such as Ole Miss and SMU are still pushing to get involved.

Weaver reportedly will have an in-home visit on the night of April 26 with Terry and the Longhorns staff. He also had in-home visits with Texas A&M and Texas Tech earlier in the week.
