Texas Football: Evaluating 3 new 2024 offers to know this spring
Jonathan Kamara, DB
One of the most under-the-radar recent offers from the Longhorns went to the emerging 6-foot-4 and 210-pound Goodyear (AZ) Desert Edge defensive back Jonathan Kamara. The unranked defensive back/athlete recruit is someone that is quickly starting to pick up a lot more attention on the trail in the last few months.
At the beginning of February, Kamara didn’t hold a single FBS offer. After he received offers from Texas and the Army Black Knights in the last couple of weeks, he’s now got seven FBS schools on his growing offer sheet. The Kansas State Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks, and Utah State Aggies are a few other schools on his offer sheet as of May 7.
Texas specifically offered Kamara on April 27. He was one of two Desert Edge High School prospects in the 2024 class that Texas offered during the spring evaluation period, along with the rising three-star edge rusher Deshawn Warner.
Kamara is a lengthy and insanely physically gifted hybrid defensive back/outside linebacker that has immense upside, but he is pretty raw right now. The junior tape on Kamara shows a physically-imposing hybrid defender that covers a lot of ground whether playing in the box or in the secondary.
There are a lot of impressive hits that show how Kamara plays with a lot of pop in the pads. He also has the speed and agility to keep pace with most of the wide receivers matches up with one-on-one in pass coverage.
