Texas Football: 3 elite 2025 recruits the Horns are prioritizing this spring
While most of the focus on the trail right now for Texas football recruiting lies on the 2024 class, there is still plenty of activity to watch for this program in the 2025 class. The spring evaluation period has seen Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian extend more than a dozen offers in the last month or so to rising targets of the 2024 and 2025 classes.
Another important aspect of the spring evaluation period is the ability of various recruits to improve their stock as camps, combines, and 7v7s have come front and center. The recruiting camps and combines along with the 7v7 circuit allow recruits to put their offseason improvements on display in front of the national media and college coaches.
Throughout the last couple of months, I’ve come across some impressive recruits in the 2025 class that have caught my eye. Some of those impressive 2025 recruits this offseason also hold Texas offers.

With that in mind, here’s a look at three elite 2025 recruits the Longhorns are prioritizing this spring.
Devin Sanchez, CB
The elite five-star Houston (TX) North Shore cornerback that a couple of the major recruiting services have ranked as the No. 1 cornerback prospect in the nation in the 2025 class, Devin Sanchez, has seen his recruitment explode since last fall. The 6-foot-2 and 170-pound Sanchez also happens to be one of the top cornerback prospects for Texas in the 2025 class this spring.
Cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph has formed a great relationship with Sanchez, which has led to Texas being in the presumed top group of schools early in this recruitment.

In fact, Justin Wells of Inside Texas reported (paid content) on April 27 that Sanchez’s top schools that were standing out to him this spring are the Oregon Ducks, Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, and Texas.
Texas made a move in this recruitment when Sanchez made a successful unofficial visit just up the road to Austin for the first Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 21. He loved that visit and it was good for him to continue to build the relationship with Joseph and Sark.
At the moment, Sark, Joseph, and the Longhorns are looking to get Sanchez on the books for a return visit to Texas during the big official visit season next month. It sounds like early June could be a realistic target date for Sanchez to make his first trip to Austin since Junior Day in January.
