Texas Football: 4-Star WR Taz Williams ‘loves’ Chris Jackson’s NFL resume
Texas football is starting to fill out its early-stage big board for the 2025 recruiting class in the midst of the spring evaluation period this offseason. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian have already offered more than 80 recruits in the 2025 class as of the morning of May 9.
One of the more recent wide receiver offers in the 2025 class for Sark, new WR coach Chris Jackson, and the Longhorns that is worth watching this spring is the highly touted four-star Red Oak (TX) product Taz Williams Jr. The 6-foot and 175-pound talented in-state wide receiver recruit received a Texas offer on May 2, 2023.
Texas likes the speed and elusiveness that Williams brings to the table. He’s a dangerous playmaker in space, which is obviously the type of wide receiver that Sark covets in his offensive system.
However, the best relationship that Williams has on the staff is with the new wide receivers coach Jackson. The former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receivers coach has an NFL background and an eye for talent that appeals to Williams in a big way.

New Texas football WR Chris Jackson and 4-Star 2025 WR Taz Williams Jr. already have a good relationship
Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods reported (subscriber content) this week that Williams “loves Jackson’s history in the NFL as both a player and a coach”. It also sounds like it was a big deal for Jackson to extend the offer to Williams this spring.
"“Taz Williams keeps things close to the vest, but even he admitted that the Texas offer was big for him. He said that was an offer that he’s been wanting, so when Chris Jackson delivered on that, it caught his attention. ”"
The relationship between Jackson and Williams already looks to be one of the strongest that the new WR coach has formed with any of the recruits he’s pursuing in the 2025 class at the moment. He likes Williams’ game and the Red Oak wideout likes the NFL resume that Jackson brings to the table.
Williams is one of the higher-priority in-state wide receivers to watch for Sark, Jackson, and the Longhorns early in the 2025 cycle. He visited Texas three times prior to receiving the offer this spring, with the latest coming on the first Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 21.
