Texas football set to host 5-Star CB Kobe Black on a visit this week
The news cycle is picking up again on the recruiting trail for Texas football in the 2024 and 2025 classes this spring. Texas is set to have a big run of visit weekends for the 2024 class next month, which will make for a second consecutive offseason where June will have a huge list of official visitors.
Before we get to the month of June, though, it’s looking like the Longhorns could have some big-time visitors to watch in May.
The next elite recruit that is set to visit Texas in the near future was reported by On3’s Sam Spiegelman on the afternoon of May 10. Spiegelman reported that Texas is set to host the elite five-star Waco (TX) Connally cornerback Kobe Black for an unofficial visit this weekend.
This will be the second time that Black has made the unofficial trip to Austin in 2023. The first time that Black visited Austin in 2023 was the first Junior Day of the offseason, on Jan. 21.

This is also likely to be Black’s final unofficial trip to the 40 before he makes the official visit from June 23-25.
Texas is clearly in a tremendous spot right now among the top schools in this recruitment. Cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph has one of the best relationships of any position coach in this recruitment. Joseph and the Longhorns have made a big move with Black since he made the successful unofficial trip a few months ago for the first Junior Day of the offseason.
And it will only help Texas’ cause in the race to land a commitment from Black that he will be around campus so frequently heading into the summer and fall. After he visits the Forty Acres this weekend, Black will have made it to Austin more times than any other school so far this offseason.
Texas has really hit home with the pitch they’ve made to Black where he could potentially challenge for immediate playing time and a role on the two-deep at the cornerback position in 2024. Especially if Texas loses rising redshirt junior boundary cornerback Ryan Watts to the NFL next offseason, that could open the door for Black to compete for a starting job right away in 2024.
Black is clearly one of the top in-state priorities at defensive back in the 2024 class for the Longhorns this spring. He and the highly touted four-star Temple (TX) Lake Belton cornerback Selman Bridges will be the two top in-state priority recruits to watch at the position in the 2024 class for the Longhorns heading into the summer.
