Texas football recruiting is in full swing this time of year. In the midst of the spring evaluation period, head coach Steve Sarkisian and a good portion of the rest of the Texas coaching staff are hitting the road to visit priority and emerging recruits in the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes.

One of the names to watch this offseason in the 2025 class that recently received a Texas offer, and got a visit from one of the coaches, is the highly touted four-star Jasper (TX) athlete/tight end Kiotti Armstrong. Texas offered Armstrong in the midst of a visit to Jasper High School on May 11, 2023.

And it sounds like the offer hit home for the fast-rising 6-foot-5 and 245-pound blue-chip recruit.

Hudson Standish of Horns247 reported on May 12 (paid content) that Armstrong felt “extremely blessed” to receive the Texas offer. This report also noted that co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Jeff Choate was the one that extended Armstrong the offer since he was visiting Jasper High School simultaneous to Texas wanting to reach out.

Choate was visiting Jasper this week to see the four-star 2024 Texas linebacker target TyAnthony Smith, who is a teammate and cousin of Armstrong’s.

But it sounds like special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and the Longhorns really like what they see out of one of the top-ranked tight end recruits in the 2025 class in Armstrong. The offer made an impression on Armstrong too, which is apparent from what we quoted from the Standish report.

The scheme fit is certainly a strong selling point in this recruitment, which is something that has already caught Armstrong’s eye.

"“From what I’ve seen last year though I love the scheme for Texas on offense and the way all the players looked like they were having fun when I visited last fall.”"

Another indication of the type of impression this made on Armstrong is just how quickly he was able to get an unofficial visit set to Austin after he received the Texas offer this week. He will reportedly visit Austin on June 3 for the Texas Elite Camp.

Armstrong was also able to make it to campus for an unofficial trip for the West Virginia game last fall (specifically on Oct. 1).

Armstrong quickly becoming one of the most coveted tight end recruits in the 2025 class

Texas is one of the many Power Five schools that have gotten involved in this recruitment in the last few months. Since the start of February, Armstrong has received offers from the TCU Horned Frogs, Oklahoma Sooners, Oregon Ducks, Texas A&M Aggies, and Baylor Bears.

More offers are likely to come as Armstrong’s recruitment continues to blow up this spring.

It’s easy to see what Banks and the Longhorns like out of the lengthy and athletic multi-sport athlete out of Jasper, TX. Armstrong plays football, basketball, and baseball, at Jasper, highlighting just how gifted of an athlete he is.

On the football field, Armstrong plays both sides of the ball for Jasper (tight end and defensive lineman).

Texas offered Armstrong as a tight end given his taller frame, strong upper body, and large catch radius. Armstrong is also a solid blocker, which is helped by his experience playing in the trenches on the defensive side of the ball.

Armstrong is one of a few in-state tight end recruits the Longhorns have offered in the 2025 class. He is also the highest rated among the in-state tight end recruits that has a Texas offer in the 2025 class after the elite five-star Davon Mitchell transferred from Allen to Los Alamitos High School in California this offseason.
